The WINNER of the 2022 US Open Class Division and WCS legend Ben Morris is coming back to Denver for a weekend of west coast swing workshops! One of the most sought-after WCS instructors in the world, this will be Ben’s 6th time teaching in Denver, and you absolutely do not want to miss it.

Workshop Details
- Signature Morris Moves & Styling – Not too much theory, think unique moves and fun styling
- How to Link Patterns Like a Bad A$$ – How Learn how Ben likes to use transitions and combine patterns as an alternative to using an anchor steps
- Mastering Your Quality of Movement – Have you ever watched a dancer and thought “they move well but I’m not sure why or how”? Learn how to use different combinations of body isolations to have great “background body movement”. This is the secret to moving your body in that fluid “watery” way like the All-Stars & Champions.
- Jedi Connection & Communication – Learn how connection communicates a lot more to our partner than just where we are in space. And how the subtleties of how we’re moving our bodies make it so that you can feel what your partner’s doing and they can feel what you’re doing, and you can both be influenced by those things. And even though we don’t need to match them, we can both move in a more complementary way. In a way that feels more together and communicative.
- Q&A Session – You can ask Ben almost any question you want about WCS in this 1 hour session and you’ll be doing so while enjoying your pizza dinner (included in your weekend pass!)
- Morris Musicality (two-hour separately ticketed musicality intensive for only $29) – Learn musicality from the arguably the best WCS improviser in the world! More details on this intensive in the next section below!
Morris Musicality : Building Your Dance to the Music
2 Hour Musicality Intensive ($29 extra)
Saturday May 17th, 4-6pm @ Colorado Dancesport
Learn how Ben constructs his dance “off the fly” like a bad @$$ (Jonathan’s words). From the big picture down to the little picture. He’ll show you how to create communication between you and your partner about the song you’re dancing to and the direction you want to take the dance. Starting with feeling the overall vibe, playing with phrase changes, getting into details, etc.

Cost below is for 4 workshops, Q&A session with pizza, Saturday & Sunday social dances, and BenMo improv demo with Olya. The optional 2 hour musicality intensive is $29 extra.

Will you be selling individual workshops or dance entrance?
If we don’t sell out, individual workshops & Q&A can be purchased for $25 each at the door via cash or Venmo. The Saturday night social dance can be purchased for $10 regardless of whether we sell out.
Am I "good enough" to attend these workshops?
Maybe you’re thinking, “This all sounds great, Jonathan, but do I need to be an advanced dancer to take these classes?” Absolutely not! If you’re comfortable with your 6 & 8 count basics (sugar push, left & right side pass, tuck, whip, reverse whip), then you’re good! Don’t know one of those yet? Find a place that has beginner WCS classes prior to the event!
No matter if you’re a novice or an all-star, everyone can get something amazing from Ben Morris.

About Ben Morris
Ben actually began swing dancing at the age of 12 after moving to…you guessed it…Denver, CO.
In addition to being crowned the 2022 Class Division winner at the US Open, Ben is also a Champion Lindy Hopper, a two-time World Swing Dance Champion, three-time U.S. Open Swing Dance Champion, Spirit of Lindy Hop award winner, California Swing Dance Hall of Fame award winner, and was a featured dancer in “Love N’ Dancing” and Leann Rimes’ music video “Swingin.”
Affectionately nicknamed “BenMo,” Ben’s renowned for his unique style, infectious personality, and entertaining workshops.
And on May 17th & 18th, he’s coming to Denver to teach YOU. That’s right, BenMo will be delivering 4 hours of epic workshops over the weekend along with a Q&A, and a special 2-hour intensive on Saturday.

If for some reason you get sick or are injured leading up to the event, we can credit the cost of your pass towards a future WCS Masterclass Event. We usually have 2-3 WCS pros come out to Denver every year to do workshops and intensives. Note: We do not issue full refunds.
