What to Expect
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: 2-Hour Intensive
- Robert will teach his revolutionary Shared Center System, a game-changing technique that will help you connect seamlessly with any partner—at any skill level—across multiple dance styles (not just WCS!).
- You’ll learn to master your balance and control, making your dancing look and feel amazing.
- You’ll gain tools, drills, and insights that will transform the way you approach WCS.
- Dance teachers taking this intensive will have fresh material to bring their students!
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Free Guided Practice
Stick around after the intensive to practice what you’ve learned under Robert’s guidance. This is your opportunity to ask him questions and refine your new skills.
8:00 PM – 11:00 PM: Social Dance Party
End the night dancing with the community! Enjoy music from DJ LaWanna, one of Colorado’s top WCS DJs. Celebrate your breakthroughs on the dance floor!

Important Note
Robert will not be dancing or performing during the event, as he is recovering from knee surgery due to a knee injury late last year. He will, however, be present to teach, guide, and interact with attendees.
FAQ
Q. I am brand new to West Coast Swing. Is this for me?
A. Yes! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never even taken a WCS workshop before, you will get a ton out of this intensive.
Q. Will the Shared Center System work with other partner dance styles?
A. While Royston is best known in the WCS world, he is a champion and master in many other partner dances. He developed his Shared Center System in a way that works with many other dance styles outside of WCS including but not limited to Country Swing, Zouk, Two Step, Hustle, and many other forms of swing dancing.
Q. Do I need to bring a partner?
A. No partner is required. Just bring yourself!
Q. What should I bring?
A. Bring dance shoes, comfortable clothing to move in, water, and snacks if you get hungry.
Q. Will Robert be dancing?
A. Robert is recovering from surgery due to a knee injury and his doctor has not cleared him to dance yet.
Q. Is there onsite parking?
A. There’s plenty of free parking out front
Q. What is your refund policy?
A. We don’t give refunds. However, if you are sick that weekend and unable to attend, you may apply your payment towards the next workshop weekend.
Q. Can my friends attend the social dance if they aren’t part of the intensive and practice session?
A. Yes, the cost of the dance is either $10 online (they can buy on this page) or at the door on site.

About Robert Royston
Robert Royston’s professional career began on the competitive couples dance circuit in 1989. Quickly ascending the ranks, Robert successfully secured:
- Eight (8) “U.S. Open Swing Dance Championship Titles” in 5 divisions
- Six (6) “World Country Dance Championship Titles” in 2 division
- Three (3) “USA Grand National Championships Titles” in 2 divisons
- Numerous national titles in Hustle, Salsa, and Cabaret
- Inducted into the “California Swing Dance Hall of Fame”
- Became the youngest person inducted to the “UCWDC Country Dance Hall of Fame” in 2007
- Inducted into National Boppers Hall of Fame 2014
- Inductions into the “World Swing Dance Hall of Fame” and the “Living Legends of Dance Society” in 2011 make him the only dancer ever inducted into all of these organizations.
Robert’s exciting, high energy original choreography gained the attention of producers of the Broadway musical, “Swing!” This led to:
- Principle dancer performing his own choreography in the seven (7) time Tony nominated musical as a principle dancer
- Became the assistant choreographer for the first National Tour of the production
- Highlighted work in the production of “Gypsy of the Year on Broadway” at New York’s Palace Theatre and “Destination Groove,” a Choreographer’s Showcase
- His choreography and performance garnered more attention in the New York workshop production of “Urban Cowboy.”
- Royston co-created and produced the critically acclaimed show “SWANGO: The Musical” in 2002. The show ran in New York as a cabaret, leading to a full show with performances in NYC. Four (4) time Tony Award winner, Rupert Holmes, joined the creative team to write the script for the productions.
Royston’s professional journey led him into the music video world as a choreographer. Some of the highlights:

An internationally recognized emcee and the voice of the US Open for over 15 years, Royston created the Social Networking “Shout Out” for online viewers, making the world feel part of the event. At the USA Grand Nationals his emceeing twice earned him the People’s Choice Award “Entertainer of the Year”. With his current schedule, Royston acts as emcee at over 20 events worldwide.
Royston also teaches his Intensives on Dance Physics and Musicality all over the world in addition to judging and teaching many different styles of couples dancing while also running his own Production Company, RoRo Productions in NYC. Above all, he is most proud of his children and feels being a Dad is his greatest journey.
