Intensive: Art of Adaptability: How to Become the Most Adaptable Partner in the Room (optional)

$29 with a Full Weekend Pass or $49 without a Full Weekend Pass

Saturday May 16th, 4-6pm @ Colorado Dancesport

How do you dance effortlessly with anyone in the room, regardless of their level, style, or preferences?

This intensive is all about becoming highly adaptable, so you can quickly recognize what works best with each partner and adjust in real time. Leaders and followers will learn how to read their partner’s movement, connection, and comfort level, then make simple, effective changes that dramatically improve the dance.

Topics we may explore include:

Connection & Frame

  • Tone, feel, and width of the frame

  • Handhold variations and what they communicate

  • Connection strength and responsiveness

  • Constant vs variable connection styles

  • Linear vs side-based connection choices

Partner Sensitivity & Feedback

  • How much space the leader provides on the anchor

  • How responsive the follower is (gas pedal, brake, steering wheel)

  • Supporting a partner who asks for more connection

  • Allowing space vs providing structure

Movement & Momentum

  • Footwork vs body movement preferences

  • How much momentum a follower carries forward

  • Turn comfort and rotational ability

  • Linear vs rotational tendencies

Musical & Styling Preferences

  • Comfort with slow movement vs speed

  • When and how a follower prefers to style

  • When space enhances the dance, and when it disrupts it

Throughout the intensive, we will focus on one key question:

What works well with this person, and what doesn’t?

By the end, you will have practical tools to adapt instantly, create better dances with every partner, and feel confident stepping onto the floor with anyone.

If this sounds too good to be true, that’s because it almost is! And we’re pretty serious about the attendance cap of 100, so don’t make the mistake of waiting to buy your pass. You MIGHT get lucky and be able to buy at the door if someone is a “no show,” but why take that risk??

Will you be selling individual workshops or dance entrance?
If we don’t sell out, individual workshops & Q&A can be purchased for $25 each at the door via cash or Venmo.  The Saturday night social dance can be purchased for $10 regardless of whether we sell out.

Am I "good enough" to attend these workshops?

Maybe you’re thinking, “This all sounds great, Jonathan, but do I need to be an advanced dancer to take these classes?” Absolutely not! If you’re comfortable with your 6 & 8 count basics (sugar push, left & right side pass, tuck, whip, reverse whip), then you’re good!  Don’t know one of those yet?  Find a place that has beginner WCS classes prior to the event!

No matter if you’re a novice or an all-star, everyone can get something amazing from Ben Morris.

About Ben Morris

Ben actually began swing dancing at the age of 12 after moving to…you guessed it…Denver, CO.

In addition to being crowned the 2022 Class Division winner at the US Open, Ben is also a Champion Lindy Hopper, a two-time World Swing Dance Champion, three-time U.S. Open Swing Dance Champion, Spirit of Lindy Hop award winner, California Swing Dance Hall of Fame award winner, and was a featured dancer in “Love N’ Dancing” and Leann Rimes’ music video “Swingin.”

Affectionately nicknamed “BenMo,” Ben’s renowned for his unique style, infectious personality, and entertaining workshops.

And on May 16th & 17th, he’s coming to Denver to teach YOU. That’s right, BenMo will be delivering 4 hours of epic workshops over the weekend along with a Q&A, and a special 2-hour intensive on Saturday.
